Trauma Therapy
We cannot always control what happens to us in life, however, we can control how we face and cope with these events. Every day, counselors at Grounded Roots Counseling Services focus on helping clients overcome trauma and abuse they've experienced in their lives so they can ultimately lead more fulfilling lives. While engaging in any form of therapy, the connection with your counselor is the most important component. This is especially true when completing trauma therapy due to the sensitive nature of this work.
We are committed to remaining up to date with relevant and evidence-based treatment approaches to bring about the most lasting changes. We always practice with a trauma-informed counseling approach, follow our client’s pace and readiness to explore past memories, and seek to stabilize symptoms of distress before delving deeper alongside our clients into these traumas. This allows clients to have the necessary resources and skills in order to handle any unpleasant emotions, thoughts, or body sensations brought on from trauma work.

Sarah Zucca has sought additional training to become certified to practice Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This form of therapy is an effective method of treatment that is often more brief in nature and allows a mind-body connection of healing that traditional therapies are unable to access. EMDR focuses on resolving traumatic memories until they no longer hold any disturbance for us. To view additional information on EMDR please visit the links below.
